Ross and I started out our day with some excellent cappuccinos on the balcony. Sweet Pea had a yummy hot chocolate. Can you believe that view? I just don't think it gets better than this.
While enjoying our drinks, we spotted several sea birds sailing and diving alongside the ship. They appeared to be feeding and when we stepped up to the balcony for a closer look, we saw what may have been either jumping fish and/or dolphins. There were some dorsal fins in the water and some of them were even jumping. Sweet Pea was sure that we had spotted dolphins, but I think they perhaps looked too small and were just fish. Whatever they were, it was a very exciting sighting and we watched for quite a while.
Sweet Pea wanted to go to the kid's club so Ross and I dropped her off and then headed to trivia. We were happy to be invited to join the team of Paul, Caroline and Eleanor, who were fellow trivia lovers. Some of the questions that gave us trouble:
1) The ghost pepper was first discovered in what country?
2) Which one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World was built first?
3) Which Al Green song contains the lyrics, "Times are good or bad, happy or sad"
Answers:
1) India
2) The Pyramids
3) "Let's Stay Together"
Below is a picture of a strange room we discovered on our way to trivia. There were chimes that played in different tones whenever someone walked through it.
I forgot to mention that I left my jacket at dinner on the first night. I realized my mistake almost immediately and returned to the dining room. Our waiter I Gede saw me and said, "I'm sorry. I just sent it down to customer service!" He rushed out of the restaurant and tried to catch the server that was taking the jacket, but did not see him. I told him that was fine, that I would go get it the next day.
Today, Ross and I stopped by customer service and were "helped" by Wendy.
I explained to Wendy that there was a simple black jacket in the Lost and Found. She left briefly and then returned to say that there weren't any black jackets. I told her that there must be a mistake because I knew that a server had brought it down to customer service. I asked if she would check again. She reluctantly said that she would and returned with a fancy black jacket that was not mine. When I told her that wasn't my jacket, she said that it the only one back there and that I should return later in the cruise to check again. I told her that I knew my jacket must be in the Lost and Found, but she insisted that there wasn't anything else she could do.
Ross and I headed back to the Opus dining room and found the Maître d'. I explained the story to him and told him that customer service said my jacket hadn't made it into the Lost and Found. The Maître d' was extremely apologetic and took an immediate interest in helping me find my jacket. I said that my jacket wasn't very valuable, but he explained that that didn't matter. There is supposed to be a very specific procedure to deal with lost items and he was upset that my jacket could not be located.
He called several people on the ship telephone until he was able to locate our waiter, I.Gede. He asked him who he had given my jacket to and then called that server and asked him to meet us at the customer service desk. When we met him at the desk, another customer service representative (not Wendy!) went in the back and immediately returned with my jacket. I was really impressed with the Maître d's handling of the situation and grateful to have my jacket returned.
We happened to walk by the casino during a free slot machine pull contest. It wasn't quite as exciting as I had anticipated. There was a long line of people circling around one machine, pulling it's lever each time they walked by. The person with the highest score after 15 minutes would win a prize. We went around once and then decided to move on.
The only problem at lunch was that drink service was still lacking. At least we did have someone actually come over to take our order, but there was still a little hic-up I asked for the Raspberry Lemonade.
The server said, "You want a raspberry fizz?"
I said, "No. I want the drink of the day. I think it's the raspberry lemonade."
He said, "It's a raspberry fizz."
He brought me the raspberry fizz. I pulled out my Reflections daily guide and saw that the non-alcoholic drink of the day was in fact a raspberry lemonade. Oh well, I wasn't going to go stand in line to get another drink and the raspberry fizz was okay.
The buffet has a really nice Caesar salad station, which even included anchovies.
Yummy!
Sweet Pea went to the "Make Your Own Pasta" station and chose spaghetti with peas and black olives, topped with bolognaise sauce. Hmmm... to each her own. lol.
My favorite station was the curries.
Oh wait. That wasn't true. My favorite station was really the ice cream! And my favorite ice creams were cinnamon and pistachio!
Sweet Pea enjoyed some passion fruit ice cream.
